About this site

The inspiration for The Skinner is to build a community in the backcountry environment and share information and stories that will lead to a net positive in our sphere and the greater world.
In this space, you’ll be able to find trip reports, thoughts and musings pertaining to the backcountry skiing industry, discussions on gear, and advice for stepping into the snow covered mountains.
About the Author
I’m Eric Heiman, a backcountry ski guide and avalanche educator, but more so, just another person trying to live a fulfilling life connecting with others in the modern version of our mountain towns. I was brought into this world on the East Coast, and got hooked on the backcountry up on Mt. Washington, NH. Yet, despite still having a soft spot for New England to this day, I joined the ranks of ski the east ex-pats and found more snow and bigger mountains out West.
